Construction of the Lahabin (Lapin) Line — Commemorative Photographic Album, South Manchuria Railway, Harbin Construction Office, 1933

A scarce commemorative photographic album marking the completion of the Lahabin (Lapin) Line, compiled in 1933 by the Harbin Construction Office of the South Manchuria Railway's Railway Construction Bureau. The plates chronicle the building of the line through the country surrounding Harbin — surveys, earthworks, bridges, and the men who carried the project to completion.

Produced to commemorate a specific engineering achievement, albums such as this were issued in limited quantity and seldom survive intact. As a primary visual record they offer a rare window onto the rail network radiating from Harbin, then a pivotal junction of Northeast Asian commerce and movement. The volume will reward students of South Manchuria Railway history, prewar photography, and the urban and economic development of early 1930s Harbin.

A genuine documentary artefact of the period, well suited to a serious collection of East Asian historical materials.

Offered by KT Vintage, drawing on decades of trusted international sales to discerning collectors and institutions across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania.
